Laiyla Puts Self-Worth First With “I’m the Prize”
By Maya Sinclair · 2026-10-19
Laiyla enters TRACK WIRE’s discovery spotlight with “I’m the Prize,” an R&B introduction centered on confidence and knowing your value.
An Introduction Built on Confidence
For listeners who miss the personality of early-2000s R&B, Laiyla offers a new name to explore. Her single “I’m the Prize” introduces an artist working with that era’s musical and visual influences while bringing a contemporary feminine perspective to the conversation. Released September 3, the song was co-written with producer Ahmad Pollard.
The record’s central idea is straightforward: recognize your value without chasing someone else’s approval. In its October emerging-artist roundup, The LA Note highlighted the single’s playful confidence and emphasis on self-worth. That makes it a useful starting point for discovering Laiyla’s artistic direction.
Put Her on Your Discovery List
For TRACK WIRE readers, the angle is a familiar relationship question approached from a position of self-respect: how much energy should anyone spend trying to be chosen? “I’m the Prize” puts that conversation at the center of Laiyla’s introduction.
